Rohan Murthy is the son of renowned businessman and philanthropist Narayana Murthy and Sudha Murty. Rather than working at Infosys which was co-founded by Narayana Murthy Rohan decided to carve his own path. With a strong background in computer science and programming he co-founded a digital transformation company – Soroco. The company specializes in AI-driven automation. Rohan Murthy serves as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Soroco.
Rohan Murthy was born in Bengaluru and completed his initial education at Bishop Cotton Boys’ School. He then went to the US for further education. Rohan earned his bachelor’s degree in computer science from Cornell University in 2005. He then moved to Harvard University in 2011 and completed his PhD in computer engineering. He received the prestigious Siebel and Microsoft Research Fellowships to fund his research.
Rohans family boasts a strong record of accomplishment. His maternal uncle is a distinguished astrophysics professor at Caltech and his sister is married to Rishi Sunak the former British Prime Minister.
Murthy married Lakshmi Venu who is the daughter of TVS Motors chairman Venu Srinivasan. But in 2015 the couple got separated. In 2019 Rohan married Aparna Krishnan.
Rohan owns over 60 million shares of Infosys and received Rs 106.42 crore in dividends. Despite this substantial inheritance his primary focus is on Soroco which reported USD 18 million (Rs 150 crore) in revenue during 2022. Infosys maintains a strong market position boasting a valuation of Rs 737940 crore as of February 2025.
