News from Patna: According to the Bihar State Election Commission, there will be by-elections in 56 local bodies around the state and elections in six urban local bodies. The process of preparing the voter list has already begun.
The official timetable states that the draft voter list will be made public on April 11, 2025, and that the public will have until April 24 to file claims and complaints. On May 9, 2025, the final list will be released.

Village Court Secretaries Receive Appointment Letters from Patna Sarpanches
Concurrently, the Panchayati Raj Department has begun the process of selecting secretaries for the Gram Kachahari (village court).
For the 65 open positions in the Patna district, counseling was held on Friday, and 45 applicants were hired. During an occasion at the Dashrath Manjhi Labour and Study Institute in Patna, the sarpanches of their respective local panchayats personally delivered their appointment letters to these applicants.
Thirteen of the sixty-three candidates chosen for the Patna district were not present.
Five were deemed ineligible.
The remaining forty-five qualified applicants were appointed and will shortly assume their positions. The department has also formally authorized their joining.
Patna is the first to provide counseling as part of the statewide recruitment process for 1,583 Gram Kachahari Secretary positions. In the near future, the Panchayati Raj Department intends to begin phase-wise counseling in more districts. All developments will be disseminated via the department’s official social media accounts and SMS alerts sent to the registered phone numbers of the applicants.
