Some once popular haven't been such a top choice lately and a new study found that these ones are dying out. The study by found that names associated with intelligence are dying out while others linked to beauty, elegance or strength are becoming more popular. It analysed the names of nearly 400 million born in Britain and the US over the last 143 years.
Results found that Olivia was the most for girls in England and Wales in 2023. The name is associated with elegance, grace, creativity and warmth. Meanwhile Muhammed was found to be the name for boys. The name is linked to meanings of prophet, revered, leader and respected.
Over the last 25 years, names linked to intelligence, such as William and Ada, have become less popular.
Figures from the (ONS) show that popular names for boys during the 90s, such as Matthew and Ryan, are going out of fashion.
For girls, once-common names like Lauren, Hannah, Rebecca, Amy and Megan have plunged out of the top 100.
