Varanasi-Howrah Bullet Train: The Indian Railways one of the largest railway networks in the works is doubling down on its ambitious bullet train project with work underway on multiple routes across the country including the much-anticipated Varanasi–Patna–Howrah High-Speed ​​Rail Corridor which aims to provide high-speed train travel between Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh and Howrah in West Bengal. According to details the proposed 760 kilometer long bullet train project will pass through major cities including Buxar Ara Patna Gaya Dhanbad Asansol Durgapur and Burdwan covering the distance in just two hours. The route will include about 260 km of elevated tracks within Bihar as per proposal details shared by the railways. As per reports project is currently in the Detailed Project Report (DPR) stage and survey work is underway to assess land requirements and finalize the route. One completed the Varanasi-Howrah High-Speed ​​Rail Corridor will enhance connectivity between these two major cities by significantly reducing travel time. Varanasi-Howrah Bullet Train speed distance stations According to reports the proposed railway corridor with an estimated length of 760 kilometers will pass through five major cities of eastern India-- Varanasi Buxar Patna Gaya and Kolkata. The Varanasi-Howrah bullet train will have a top speed of 350 kmph reducing the travel time to just over two hours as per some reports while others have reported that the journey will take around three-and-a-half to four hours. The elevated route will have stations at Buxar Patna Gaya Asansol Dhanbad Durgapur and Howrah while other possible stations include Ara and Nawada. Varanasi-Howrah Bullet Train launch date While the Indian Railways has not provided a specific launch date for the Varanasi-Howrah bullet train its been estimated that the corridor will be ready for commercial use by mid 2027. As per reports survey work on the corridor in Bihar has been completed and land acquisition process has begun with officials now awaiting railways approval to start construction.
