After winning the third and final match of the series by 43 runs at Bay Oval on Saturday, New Zealand (NZ) swept Pakistan (PAK) away with a 3-0 ODI series victory, led by Ben Sears’ second consecutive five-wicket haul.

The Black Caps’ 3-0 victory and the new players’ performance impressed New Zealand captain Michael Bracewell. He thought that their success was a result of their playing style and attention to detail, which he stressed was crucial. He emphasized the importance of winning the series and the team’s dedication to carrying out their strategy.

“You always want to do well when you bring in a few new individuals. It’s satisfying to win 3-0 because it shows that the players are showing up, performing, and following our instructions. As a Black Caps team, we have a distinct style of play and pay attention to the little details that many others would miss.

We want to make sure we accomplish those things perfectly, and I think this season has done that. Obviously, our goal is to win, and winning the series is crucial, but this group also values those little things much. It’s wonderful to see everyone in and get started right away. Michael Bracewell said that at the presentation after the game.

His bowling assault, especially that of Will O’Rourke, Bean Sears, and Jacob Duffy, impressed Bracewell with their speed, aggressiveness, and use of height and bounce. They helped to the team’s win by achieving an above-par total and successfully protecting it, and they played well on sports wickets. The bowlers’ triumph was largely due to their composure and flexibility.

“(On the Pacers) They carried over to the ODIs; it was the same in the T20 series. Their bowling style seems unaffected by the fact that it was rather thrilling to watch them on some really athletic surfaces. They made excellent use of their height and bounce and were swift and aggressive.

It’s incredible to see the young crop emerge under the leadership of Will O’Rourke, Bean Sears, and Jacob Duffy. Seeing various men stand forward at different times was fantastic. We maintained our composure. We just managed to get an above-average score, and given the bowlers’ style of bowling, it would always be sufficient,” he said.

NZ captain Michael Bracewell won player of the match for his outstanding fifty and one wickets. New Zealand batted first and tested their depth to blaze their way to a competitive 264/8 on the board. The game was cut short by 42 overs because of a wet outfield, and Pakistan attempted to chase a 265-run target but was ultimately bowled by NZ for 221 in 40 overs.
