British actor and comedian Russell Brand has been accused of several sexual offenses. The claims are against four women and were made between 1999 and 2005. Brand has been charged with rape, oral rape, indecent assault, and two instances of sexual assault.
Brand, 49, denies everything. In a video posted on X (formerly Twitter), he declared that he was “never a rapist” and has “never done nonconsensual sex.” He confirmed having struggled with addiction in the past but declared himself innocent.
The Crown Prosecution Service of the UK signed off on the charges after hearing evidence that to a Channel 4 documentary in 2023. Brand is set to appear in Westminster Magistrates’ Court on May 2.
Police indicate that the investigation remains open. Officials request others to come forward if they have information.
Brand became popular initially as a stand-up comedian and went on to appear in movies and television shows. He was wed to singer Katy Perry between 2010 and 2012. He currently resides in the U.S. with his wife Laura Gallacher and three children. Brand has developed a reputation over the last few years for being active online and having unpopular opinions.
