Brosnan Agrees with Mirren's Views on Bond Franchise

Pierce Brosnan, the former James Bond actor, has shared his thoughts on Helen Mirren's recent criticism of the legendary spy series, aligning himself with her perspective regarding the portrayal of women in the franchise.

Mirren, who appeared alongside Brosnan in the film MobLand, has openly condemned the James Bond series, describing it as 'deeply rooted in profound sexism.'

When asked about Mirren's comments, Brosnan remarked, 'She really made her point. I do see where she's coming from.'

While acknowledging the validity of her critique, Brosnan also pointed out that the franchise has inherent limitations in its evolution, given its historical context and the universe established by creator Ian Fleming.

'There’s a specific world and a certain flexibility within the framework that Fleming created. Therefore, some conflicts will always remain,' he elaborated during an interview.

Although Brosnan and Mirren did not touch upon the Bond series while filming MobLand, he praised her as 'one of the kindest individuals you could ever work with.' Mirren's remarks about the Bond franchise were prompted by the recent news that Amazon MGM Studios would assume creative control over the series.

While she commended her co-star Daniel Craig, she expressed her discontent with the franchise, particularly regarding its treatment of female characters.
