New Delhi: Following complaints from the Pakistan cricket team two Afghan spectators were removed from the third ODI between New Zealand and Pakistan in Mount Maunganui after allegedly making offensive comments towards the Pakistani players. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) strongly condemned the incident. Pakistan lost the match resulting in a 0-3 series defeat adding to their 1-4 loss in the preceding T20 series. Security personnel apprehended Khusdil Shah after he reportedly rushed toward the audience. When anti-Pakistan slogans emerged cricketer Khushdil Shah stepped in and urged the spectators to refrain. In response the Afghan spectators escalated the situation by using further inappropriate language in Pashto the Pakistan Cricket Board said in a statement. Past matches between Pakistan and Afghanistan have sometimes seen confrontations between their respective fans. During the 2023 World Cup awards ceremony Ibrahim Zadran protested the deportation of Afghan refugees from Pakistan. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed that opener Imam-ul-Haq is fit after an accidental injury during a match against New Zealand. Imam briefly left the field following a facial injury sustained from a throw by a New Zealand fielder. Following a CT scan at Tauranga Hospital he received a diagnosis of mild concussion. Despite this he was cleared for air travel and returned home with his team.
