In a city that thrives on reinvention, the Ministry of Naan (M.O.N.) in Chembur is serving up more than just food—it's dishing out nostalgia. Located alongside the serene stretch of the Chembur Golf Club, this new eatery is reintroducing the vintage charm of 90s drive-in dining, but with a twist of modern-day convenience and bold North Indian flavours.
From the moment you park your car, you're transported into a thoughtfully curated experience: no bustling servers, no long queues; it's just you, your music, the comfort of your car, and food delivered hot and mess-free.
The menu, designed for flavour-packed indulgence, arrives in smart packaging that doesn't compromise on quality or temperature. And in true old-school drive-in fashion, the vibe is low-effort but high-reward, with prices so affordable that it won't break your bank!
And while we couldn’t experience the drive-in setup firsthand, we decided to test the Ministry of Naan through their delivery service instead. We placed a home delivery order from Chembur to Sion—and impressively, the food arrived within 20 minutes, still hot and fresh. Here's what we tried and loved:
The first dish we tried was the Kacchi Kairi Chicken Tikka, which featured succulent chicken marinated in raw mango puree and grilled to smoky perfection. What truly elevated the dish was the thin slices of kacchi kairi (raw mango) placed atop the tikka. The flavours were outstanding; the chicken was juicy and perfectly cooked on the inside while crispy on the outside, with tangy notes and a mild spice.
Next came my personal favourite: Dilkhush Chicken Tikka, a decadent, cheese-stuffed, cream-marinated delight that was every bit as indulgent as it sounds. The richness of the cheese melted into the soft chicken, creating a burst of creamy goodness with every bite. This one wasn’t about spice, but pure, melt-in-your-mouth comfort.
The Cheese Corn Samosa brought us back to our roadside snack roots but with a more refined, flavourful twist. These samosas had a golden, flaky crunch on the outside and a warm, spicy cheese-and-corn mix inside. This one can be ideal for snacking in the car with your go-to playlist on a loop.
Their Smoked Butter Chicken Roll was everything we hoped for in a handheld roll. It was a warm, flaky paratha-style wrap covering rich, slow-cooked butter chicken. The meat was tender, the gravy had rich, creamy spices and butter flavours, and the smokiness added a little drama without overpowering the classic tastes. I'll call this a North Indian comfort food made portable and snackable.
We couldn't leave without trying their OG Chicken Dum Biryani, and let's just say—it lived up to the hype. Aromatic, well-spiced, and cooked with finesse, each bite featured an essence of slow-cooked chicken, saffron, and caramelised onions. A timeless done right.
We wrapped our meal with a warm bowl of Moong Dal Halwa, made with ghee. It was mildly sweet, soft, and gooey—exactly how I like it. It was the kind of dessert that would make you lean back and sigh, "Yes, that was a good meal."
So, after trying some of their must-haves, I can say Ministry of Naan is a nostalgic North Indian food experience that’s big on flavour and easy on the pocket. Whether you’re dining under the stars or ordering in, it’s comforting, delicious, and surprisingly affordable—perfect for reliving those classic drive-in days.
