Dilip who is also known as the tragedy king of cinema turned down Saira Banu who would have played opposite him in the film Ram Aur Shyam. The legendary actor said that Saira was not fit for the role and they would not make a good pairing as per a report by NDTV. Later for the same role Waheeda Rehman was cast. Dilip sahab had revealed this in his autobiography The Substance and the Shadow. Over the years Saira Banu worked and established herself as one of the renowned actresses in Bollywood. During her time Banu turned out to be everyones favourite and every other director wanted to cast her in films. Once again Dilip Kumar and Saira Banus fate brought them in front of each other. When girls went gaga over Dilip Kumar the actor somehow fell in love with Saira. The actress had already liked Kumar since she was 12 years old and when her dream came true the couple decided to tie the knot. For the unversed Dilip was 44 whereas Saira was 22.
