IMD Issues Yellow Alert For Delhi, Red Alert For Gujarat As Scorching Heat Grips Several States | Full Forecast

Heat Wave Alert: Summer has already gripped India, with 21 cities across five states recording temperatures of 42 degrees Celsius. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted further heat wave conditions for 21 cities across Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Odisha. IMD on Saturday issued a yellow alert for the next three days for the national capital. Meanwhile, other states including Bihar and Uttar Pradesh are also likely to witness scorching heat.

According to an official statement by IMD, heat wave conditions are expected to persist across Gujarat, Rajasthan, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Punjab over the next four to five days. “Heat wave conditions likely over Gujarat, Rajasthan, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi and Punjab during the next 4-5 days," said IMD in an official statement.
The IMD predicted heat wave conditions for Delhi from April 7–9, with the maximum and minimum temperatures likely to settle between 40 to 42 degrees Celsius and 21 to 23 degrees Celsius, respectively. “The predominant surface wind will likely be from the east direction with a wind speed of 10-12 kmph during morning hours. The wind speed will gradually decrease, becoming 4-6 kmph from the southeast direction in the afternoon. It will increase, becoming less than 10 kmph from the southeast direction during the evening and night," warned IMD.

IMD Issues Red Alert For Gujarat

A red alert has been issued for Gujarat for April 7, while an orange alert has been issued from April 8–10. According to IMD, heat wave conditions are likely to affect parts of Gujarat between April 6 and 10, with Saurashtra and Kutch regions facing severe heat wave conditions on April 6 and 7.

Orange Alert Issued For Rajasthan

An orange alert has been issued for Rajasthan for April 7 and 8, while a yellow alert has been issued for April 9 and 10. The state is likely to witness heat wave conditions from April 6 to 10, with some areas likely to face more intense heat between April 7 and 9.
 

Heat Wave Alert Issued For These Other States

Heat wave conditions are expected in isolated areas of Himachal Pradesh on April 6 and 7. Haryana and Chandigarh may see similar conditions from April 6 to 10, while Punjab could be affected between April 7 and 10. Parts of West Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh are also likely to experience heat wave conditions during April 7–9 and April 8–10, respectively.
