This overwhelming concept of sacrifice love and family strongly touched the Indian audiences. Record-Breaking Remake Adapted from Telugu blockbuster Tohfa was a remake of Devatha released in 1982. Even though it was a remake it created its own niche in Hindi cinema. The film received nominations for Best Comic Actor Best Music and Best Lyrics at the 32nd Filmfare Awards—further boosting its popularity. Star Power and Cult Status Along with Jeetendra the movie included powerhouse performances from Sridevi and Jaya Prada who very soon became  fans favourites.
