Since January 1, 2025, dearness allowance has increased from 53 percent to 55 percent. This is only 2% increase in the last seven years, which is the lowest in this period. The government has also delayed declaring it.

There is good news for central employees. Along with dearness allowance, they will also get arrears. Currently, employees owe three installments. About 50 lakh central employees and 65 lakh pensioners will take advantage of this benefit, due to which the government will have to bear the cost of Rs 6,614 crore.

Employees will get a new dearness allowance from 1 January 2025. Recently, three installments of three months are outstanding, which will come in employees' accounts in April. Those whose minimum salary is Rs 18,000 will get a profit of Rs 360 every month.

How much will the account increase with arrear

The value of the three -month arrears will be Rs 1080. It will be paid with a salary of DA Arrears of April. Pensioners with basic pension of Rs 9,000 will get a profit of Rs 180 every month, which will give them 540 rupees more as a dues of three months.

Slight increase in dearness allowance

Dearness allowance increased only 2%

According to the All India Consumer Price Index (AICPI) report, dearness allowance has increased by 2% since January 2025. In December 2024, the AICPI figure was 143.7, causing dearness allowance to 55.99 percent. Employees have lost 0.01 percent, as the number after decimal is not added. This deficiency is the first time in 78 months.

When the 8th Pay Commission is implemented, the dearness allowance of the central employees will be zero. After this, the calculation of DA Hike will start again, which will give more benefits to the employees as the basic salary will also be more.
