Scheffler looked back to his best during the recent Houston Open, where he hit a strong final-round 63 to finish second on the leaderboard. However, the world No.1 will travel to the state of Georgia without a victory on the PGA Tour this year.

While he remains the bookies' favourite to take a third Masters title, Scheffler's last tournament win came all the way back in December, with the 28-year-old having undergone surgery since then. As such, it's seen some betting markets cut their price on the in-form , who has two tournaments to his name already in 2025.

McIlroy backed up his triumph at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in February with a dramatic win at the Players Championship last month - a tournament victory that required a tense three-hole play-off against JJ Spaun. While he might be in strong winning form, McIlroy is looking to end a wait of over 10 years for a major championship win.

The Irishman last tasted glory in a major when he beat Phil Mickelson to the PGA Championship title by one stroke in 2014. Behind the two frontrunners, Collin Morikawa sits third in the pre-tournament odds list.

As for potential winners from the LIV Golf scene, Bryson DeChambeau has the shortest pre-tournament odds, with Jon Rahm trailing just behind. Both golfers have been given exemptions because of their performances in previous majors, with Brooks Koepka, Cameron Smith, Dustin Johnson and Mickelson also starting the week with one eye on an outside win.

The opening round of action gets underway on Thursday, with the field set to be cut by Friday evening. Barring any major weather disruptions, play will conclude with the final round on Sunday evening.
