Bollywood superstar Deepika Padukone is set to take on a unique role, this time as the mother of Suhana Khan’s character in the upcoming film King. The news has created quite an amusement among fans, as it marks Deepika’s second time portraying the mother of a star kid on screen. As her first was the cameo as Ranbir Kapoor’s mother in Brahmastra (2022).

King is already one of the most anticipated films on the horizon, headlined by Shah Rukh Khan, who will reportedly play a mysterious assassin in the action thriller. Suhana Khan, making her major theatrical debut will star alongside her father, while Deepika’s character is expected to have a crucial, emotionally grounded role that adds depth to the storyline.

According to reports, Deepika will be seen in an extended cameo, portraying a powerful yet nurturing figure in Suhana’s character’s life. This film will also mark her sixth collaboration with Shah Rukh Khan, following hits like Om Shanti Om, Chennai Express, Happy New Year, Pathaan, and Jawan.

The film is being helmed by Siddharth Anand and co-produced by Red Chillies Entertainment and Marflix Productions. King is said to draw inspiration from the 1994 French classic Léon: The Professional, with Shah Rukh in the titular role and Abhishek Bachchan rumored to be playing the antagonist.

Adding another layer of intrigue, this will be Deepika Padukone’s first on-screen appearance since becoming a mother herself in September 2024, making her return all the more special for fans.

With an amazing cast and a gripping premise, King promises to be a cinematic spectacle—and Deepika’s maternal role could prove to be one of the film’s emotional cornerstones.
