PM Mudra Yojana: The central government is celebrating the completion of ten years of Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY). This is the flagship scheme of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which has been brought with the aim of providing financial assistance to small traders for their business. Since its launch on 8 April 2015, PMMY has sanctioned more than 52 crore loans worth Rs 32.61 lakh crore, promoting the entrepreneurship revolution across the country.

Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY) is a flagship scheme of the Government of India, which was launched on 8 April 2015. Its purpose is to promote small and medium scale businessmen, startups and self-employment. Under this scheme, loans are given without any guarantee.
How many types of loans are available under PM Mudra Yojana?
Three types of loans are given under PMMY:
Shishu Loan – up to ₹50,000
Kishore Loan – ₹50,001 to ₹5 lakh
Tarun Loan – ₹5 lakh to ₹10 lakh
Tarun Plus – ₹10 lakh to ₹20 lakh

Fill a simple form in which you give information about your business
Take Aadhar card, PAN card, business related document and passport size photo

68 percent women got Mudra loan
68 percent of all Mudra beneficiaries are women, which underlines the important role of this scheme in promoting women-led enterprises across the country. Between FY16 and FY25, the PMMY disbursement amount per woman grew at a CAGR of 13 per cent to Rs 62,679, while the incremental deposit amount per woman grew at a CAGR of 14 per cent to Rs 95,269.
States with higher lending to women have seen higher employment generation through women-run small businesses (MSMEs). This shows that targeted financial support to women is very effective in improving their economic status and work rate.
50% of Mudra accounts are held by SC, ST and OBC
The scheme has made significant progress in breaking traditional credit barriers. According to an SBI report, 50 per cent of Mudra accounts are held by SC, ST and OBC entrepreneurs, ensuring wider access to formal finance. Further, 11 per cent of Mudra loan holders are from minority communities, reflecting the scheme's contribution to inclusive growth by enabling marginalised communities to become active participants in the formal economy.
