Ever since the government approved the new pay commission, new updates related to it are coming out. The 8th Pay Commission is likely to be implemented next year. Recently, the central government has increased the DA, after which these speculations are being made. Now the government will not increase the fitment factor in the 8th Pay Commission. Let us understand the reason behind this.
According to the report of NDTV Profit, the government is preparing to merge 50 percent of DA in the basic salary of central employees. If this happens, then the demand for more fitment factor in the 8th Pay Commission will soften and the government will also increase the fitment factor by less. The reason behind this is that the basic salary of the employees is currently Rs 18,000. After the DA is merged, it will increase to Rs 27,000. The salary increase will happen before the implementation of the Pay Commission. Therefore, it will affect the demand for the fitment factor.
DA may be merged
The central government had made a rule under the 5th pay commission that if DA goes beyond 50%, then it is added to the basic salary. The government had done this in the year 2004. However, this system was not accepted in the 6th pay commission. It was also not accepted in the 7th pay commission. But this time there are estimates that the government will merge DA with the basic salary. If this time DA and basic salary are merged, then the basic salary of the employees will increase, which will affect the possibility of the fitment factor increasing more.
Fitment factor
The fitment factor is a multiplier, through which the government increases the salary in the coming pay commission through the multiplier according to the current salary. However, the increase in salary does not depend only on the fitment factor. Still, it affects the salary increase. The government had implemented 2.57 fitment in the 7th pay commission. Whereas this time there is a demand from the employees to implement the 2.86 fitment factor.
