Special Olympic India successfully concludes the National Roller Skating Championship

Delhi Delhi: The five -day male and female national roller skating championship ended at the Leisers Valley Skating Ring in Sarabha Nagar, Ludhiana, Punjab, in which Andhra Pradesh emerged as the top state with 18 medals, this information came from the Special Olympic India Press release.

The tournament was a part of the preparations for the Special Olympic World Summer Games 2027 and served as a platform to promote awareness for athletes with intellectual disabilities and to create high-level opportunities.

Many special dignitaries including Mr. Sanjeev Arora, MP, Rajya Sabha and Mr. Himanshu Jain, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Ludhiana were present as the chief guests in this tournament.

Representing 20 states, 110 athletes, including 47 females and 63 male athletes, participated in eight sports genres – 30 meter straight, 30 meters, 100 meters, 300 meters, 500 meters, 500 meters, 1000 m, relay 2×200 and relay 2×100. About 60 coaches, volunteers and resource personnel also participated in making the event a success.

Andhra Pradesh athletes performed well by winning 6 gold, 5 silver and 7 bronze medals. Meanwhile, Goa (4 gold, 4 silver, 7 bronze) and Haryana (7 gold, 5 silver, 3 bronze) won 15–15 medals, while Gujarat earned 14 medals (3 gold, 5 silver, 6 bronze).
