On April 8, at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, KKR's captain Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and chose to field first against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
Currently, LSG holds the sixth position in the points table, while KKR is just ahead in fifth place, with both teams having secured two wins and suffered two losses.
The winning team will have the opportunity to break into the top four.
During the toss, Rahane stated, “We are opting to bowl first. The pitch looks excellent, and the weather is quite pleasant. We believe the pitch will remain consistent. One boundary is shorter, which influenced our decision to bowl first. Everyone is eager for this match. It’s crucial to start afresh, focus on the positives, and take it step by step. We are aware that Quinny and Sunil can change the game, but we are not overly concerned about them. Spencer is coming in for Moeen.”
Spencer Johnson has been brought in to replace Moeen Ali, allowing KKR to field an additional seamer.
LSG's captain Rishabh Pant commented, “I wouldn’t say I’m very happy. We’re not dwelling on the past. We aim to focus on the positives and move forward. As a team, we are winning, and as a captain, I’m satisfied. We are maintaining the same playing XI.”
