New Delhi: Lucknow Super Giants clinched a nail-biting 4-run win over Kolkata Knight Riders in a high-scoring IPL 2025 clash that went down to the wire at Eden Gardens. Chasing a daunting target of 239 KKR fell just short ending on 234/7 despite a late blitz from Rinku Singh. After being put in to bat Lucknow Super Giants got off to a solid start courtesy of Aiden Markram who smashed a blazing 47 off 28 balls. His stroke-filled knock included 4 fours and 2 sixes before he was dismissed by Harshit Rana. Mitchell Marsh continued the charge with an explosive 81 off just 48 deliveries keeping the scoreboard ticking at a rapid rate. Nicholas Pooran then took control in the death overs hammering 87* off only 36 balls at a staggering strike rate of 241.67. He was well supported by Abdul Samad (6) and David Miller (4*) as LSG finished with a commanding 238/3 in 20 overs. KKR’s bowlers barring Varun Chakaravarthy (4-0-31-0) had an off day with most going over 11 runs per over. KKR Fight Hard But Fall Agonizingly Short In reply Kolkata Knight Riders started with intent. Quinton de Kock (15 off 9) and Sunil Narine (30 off 13) provided fireworks early but regular wickets kept them under pressure. Captain Ajinkya Rahane kept hopes alive with a swashbuckling 61 off 35 while Venkatesh Iyer added a crucial 45 off 29. However a mid-innings collapse saw KKR slump from 162/2 to 177/6. Wickets of Ramandeep Singh Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Venkatesh Iyer in quick succession tilted the game in LSG’s favor. Shardul Thakur was instrumental removing Rahane and Russell (7) to swing momentum. Rinku Singh played a valiant hand with a blistering 38* off 15 but with 20 runs needed off the final over the task proved too steep. LSG bowlers held their nerve with Akash Deep (4-0-55-2) and Thakur (4-0-52-2) picking crucial wickets despite the high run rates. Turning Point The turning point came in the 17th over when Thakur dismissed the dangerous Andre Russell halting KKR’s momentum. Rinkus late assault brought Kolkata close but the disciplined final overs ensured a thrilling win for LSG. With this victory Lucknow continue their strong run in IPL 2025 while KKR will be left to rue their middle-order collapse in what was otherwise a heroic chase.
