The Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has introduced the facility to create and activate universal account number (UAN) using Aadhaar Face Authentication Technology (FAT) through Umang Mobile App.

Members who already have UAN, but have not yet activated it, can now easily activate their UAN through the Umang app.

To solve these frequent challenges, EPFO has now introduced the facility to create and activate UAN directly using face authentication through Umang app. This service can be used by both employees and employers.

This is a major leap towards contactless and safe service to provide problems free and fully digital experience to millions of EPFO members.

Here is the way to activate UAN using Aadhaar face authentication through Umang app.

Step 1: Download and install the Umang app from Playstore

Step 3: Open Umang app and go to “UAN allocation and activation” through UAN services through face authentication.

Step 4: Enter mobile linked to the Aadhaar number and Aadhaar (to send OTP, it will be matched with the registered mobile with Aadhaar).

Step 5: Tick on checkbox for consent.

Step 6: Covered the OTP received.

Step 9: After generating UAN, the employee can download the UAN card from the UMANG app or member portal (UAN automatically active in the member portal)

“Until now, UAN was mainly made using the employee data submitted by the employers to the EPFO. While the base details were valid, the father's name, mobile number or date of birth were common in areas such as the date of birth. These errors were often required to improve during claims processing or while reaching other EPFO services. In many cases, UAN Employees were not informed, and the mobile number was not directly informed, and the mobile number was not directly informed, and the mobile number was not directly communicated. Went. Also, UAN activation was a separate process through Aadhaar OTP verification on the EPFO member portal, which led to confusion, ”the Ministry of Labor and Employment.
