Gurugram businessman dies in car fire near Delhi flyover

A 42-year-old transport businessman from Gurugram was found dead in a burning car near Delhi’s Bijwasan flyover on Monday night, prompting a police probe into the mysterious incident.

On Monday night, the charred body of a 42-year-old transport businessman was discovered in a burning car near the Bijwasan Road flyover in Delhi. The victim, identified as Sandeep from Palam Vihar, Gurugram, was on his way home from his R K Puram office when his Toyota Glanza caught fire.

The Fire Department received a call at 10:32 pm on Monday about a car engulfed in flames. Two fire engines were sent to the scene and managed to douse the fire by 11:20 pm."After putting out the fire, officials found a charred, unidentified body inside the vehicle," they stated.

Kapashera police station received a report about the incident at 10:25 pm on Tuesday. "Upon receiving the call, a team was promptly dispatched to the location, where they found a Toyota Glanza engulfed in flames," the police statement said.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the car was headed from Bijwasan Flyover towards Dwarka Expressway when it unexpectedly caught fire, trapping the driver inside. "Using the vehicle's registration details, the family was contacted and called to the scene. The deceased was later identified as Sandeep, a resident of Palam Vihar in Gurugram," the statement added.

Sandeep, who ran a taxi transport business in R K Puram, was heading home when the incident took place. A team from the Forensic Science Laboratory was summoned to the site, and the body was moved to a mortuary. Police are currently examining CCTV footage to piece together the sequence of events.
