The Israeli army confirmed the attack and said that their target was journalist Hassan Elsaleh, who is accused of being involved in the attacks on Israel on 7 October 2023. Elsaleh was injured in the attack. Elsaleh's name has been in the headlines earlier as well. In 2023, an organization called Honest Reporting released a photo of him with Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, after which CNN, Reuters and Associated Press terminated all their contracts with him. Let us tell you that more than 170 media personnel have been killed so far in the Israel-Hamas war that has been going on since 2023. According to local officials in Gaza, this number has reached 211.

The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) and other human rights groups have strongly condemned the attack. CPJ's Middle East and North Africa Director Sarah Kudah said - "This is not the first time that journalists' tents have been targeted in Gaza. The lack of concrete action by the international community encourages criminals to escape punishment." CPJ has demanded immediate medical facilities for the injured and stopping attacks on journalists' press centers in Gaza. According to data till March 25, more than 50 thousand Palestinians have been killed and more than 1 lakh 13 thousand have been injured in the Israel-Hamas war. The ceasefire that began on January 19 was broken on March 18, when the Israeli army again started attacking Gaza. More than 700 people were killed and more than 3,400 were injured in this attack.
