The state government on Wednesday announced a 2 percent increase in the dearness allowance of state employees. Its direct benefit is going to be given to 16 lakh employees. Let us tell you that these employees will get the benefit of increased dearness allowance from January 1, 2025.

Dearness allowance increased by 2 percent

The UP government said in a press note on Wednesday that the dearness allowance of the state government employees has been increased by 2 percent. From January 1, 2025, now they will be given a dearness allowance of 55 percent instead of 53 percent.

Rs 300 crore will be spent

In the press note, the state government said that the direct benefit of the increase in dearness allowance will be given to the state employees, aided educational/technical educational institutions, regular and full-time employees of urban local bodies, chargeable employees and UGC pay scales. Due to this decision of the state government, a total burden of Rs 300 crore will be incurred in May including dearness allowance and arrears.
