The promotion of Sanskrit education is a top priority for the UP government. Seven new private Sanskrit intercollegiate institutions have recently received recognition. Furthermore, three institutions have been authorised by the Uttar Pradesh Secondary Sanskrit Education Council to provide diploma programs in disciplines including astrology, yoga, and rituals.
There are now 1,264 accredited private Sanskrit intercolleges in the state, according to Shivlal, Secretary of the UP Secondary Sanskrit Education Council. Sampurnanand Sanskrit University in Varanasi accepted these institutes till 2012.
However, new legislation were passed in 2017, giving the council the power to award recognition. Over the next seven years, 85 Sanskrit intercollegiates have gained recognition.
181 Sanskrit schools in the state now provide diploma programs. The government is also establishing new institutions, giving scholarships, and providing student housing in an effort to further promote the study of Devvani Sanskrit.
