Kedarnath Yatra 2025: IRCTC launches helicopter services—routes, fares and how to book
The Kedarnath Yatra is considered one of the most revered and important pilgrimages in India for Hindus. The religious sojourn will get more convenient in 2025 with the launch of helicopter services, thanks to Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC).
On this note let’s have a look at everything devotees need to know about the new travel option introduced by IRCTC.
Helicopter services will be available from May 2 to May 31
To ease the journey for pilgrims, helicopter services will operate daily from May 2 to May 31, 2025. The holy Kedarnath Temple , set in the Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand, is now more accessible thanks to this initiative. Bookings for these helicopter rides have officially opened on IRCTC’s dedicated Heliyatra portal.
Yatra registration
Before booking a helicopter ticket, pilgrims must complete a mandatory registration for the Kedarnath Yatra. This is done through the official Uttarakhand tourism website. New users will need to create an account, fill in journey details such as duration, number of travelers, and travel dates, and then download the Yatra registration letter. This document is essential for booking helicopter tickets on the Heliyatra portal.
How to book online
To book the helicopter ride, users need to register on the Heliyatra portal using their mobile number and email. After OTP verification, they can log in and enter their Yatra registration number. From there, users can select travel dates, choose time slots, enter the number of passengers, and make payment. Each user is allowed to book two tickets, and each ticket can include up to six passengers.
Fares and departure points
Helicopter shuttle services for Kedarnath will operate from three locations:
Phata: ₹6,063 (round trip)
Sirsi: ₹6,061 (round trip)
Guptkashi: ₹8,533 (round trip)
These routes offer a scenic aerial journey over the Himalayan landscape, significantly reducing travel time and effort.
Cancellation and refund policy

If plans change, travellers can cancel their booking. Refunds will be processed within 5 to 7 working days after deducting applicable cancellation charges. However, no refunds will be given for cancellations made within 24 hours of the scheduled departure.
So now that you know everything, book early as these helicopter services are expected to fill up fast. With majestic views and a shorter journey, this could be your most comfortable Kedarnath Yatra yet.
