In a rare public outing, Prince William and his eldest son, Prince George , made a spirited appearance at a high-stakes Champions League match in Paris on Wednesday—cheering on their favorite team, Aston Villa, against Paris Saint-Germain.

The father-son duo were spotted among an enthusiastic crowd at the packed Parc des Princes stadium. Cameras captured the pair beaming with joy, pumping their fists, and shouting in support of the English squad. At one celebratory moment, Prince William, 42, was seen wrapping his arms around 11-year-old George in a proud embrace.

Though the match brought plenty of highs, there were tense moments too. Both royals were visibly invested in the game's ups and downs. Ultimately, Aston Villa fell to PSG, losing 3-1 in the Champions League quarterfinals.

Prince William’s devotion to Aston Villa is well-known, and before the game, he greeted players and coaches outside their locker room in a show of support. Speaking with TNT Sports, the Prince of Wales shared his excitement about attending the match with George.

“Well, I’ve got my son here as well, so I’m on best behavior,” he quipped when asked about his evening plans. “But I thought, it’s been 43 years since anything like this has happened in my generation as a Villa fan, and I want George to experience a night out away from home in a big European competition.”

He added, “I think those memories are really important to create and to bring him along tonight is a big deal for me.”

The Paris trip coincided with George’s spring break from school, according to People, and it’s clear the young royal is developing a strong bond with the sport—and the same team—as his father.

Last year, during a Villa match in Birmingham, Prince William confirmed George was becoming a dedicated fan. When asked by sports journalist Neil Moxley whether his son was “part of the [Villa] pride,” William replied, “Oh yes, he’s loving it.”

The match offered a lighthearted escape and memorable bonding time for the future monarch and his heir. William and Kate Middleton—currently navigating the challenges of the Princess of Wales’ cancer treatment—are parents to three children: George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6.
