After sharing a picture of his wife on Instagram after their wedding, a young guy from Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh, is suffering harsh repercussions. Local officials were alerted to the ad right away and suspected child marriage.

It was discovered that the young guy had married a juvenile in the occurrence, which happened in a community under the control of the Bilsanda police station. District Probation Officer Pragati Gupta instructed the Child Line staff to look into the matter after learning about the post.

When the crew got there, they asked the bride’s family for documentation pertaining to her age. But they could not be supplied by the family. Consequently, the parties were brought before the Child Welfare Committee for further examination. The matter is still being actively investigated.

The bride is 17 years and 5 months old, according to the locals. The April 3 child marriage was brought to light by the Instagram story, which swiftly gained widespread attention. A similar case surfaced last month in the vicinity of the Newaria police station when many family members from both sides were accused, indicating that this is not the only instance of this kind in the neighbourhood.

The Child Welfare Committee is investigating the Instagram post thoroughly, and depending on the results, more legal action may be taken.
