This year, a number of significant projects that will improve Bihar’s electricity transmission infrastructure are expected to be completed, some of which will continue into the next fiscal year. The building of three 220 kV and one 400 kV transmission lines to enable electricity evacuation from the planned thermal power plant in Chausa, Buxar, which is anticipated to be finished this year, is one of the most important.
Furthermore, by the end of this month, the 132 kV subterranean transmission cable line in Patna’s Mithapur Institutional Area should be finished. Transmission lines for new grid stations at Bhore (Gopalganj), Chandi (Nalanda), and Sarairanjan (Samastipur) are also being built under state-approved plans valued at Rs 123.83 crore, Rs 129.75 crore, and Rs 105.31 crore, respectively. The completion of these projects is anticipated within the fiscal year 2025–2026.
In addition, Chhapra (New) is now working on a large grid substation project that would cost Rs 998.39 crore and include 440 kV, 220 kV, and 132 kV networks. The related 400 kV and 220 kV transmission lines are still under construction.
Transmission infrastructure for a dedicated 132/33 kV GIS grid substation for PMCH (Patna Medical College Hospital) is also being created in Patna; completion is anticipated in March of the following year. Under a state program worth Rs 142.72 crore, the second circuit installation of 12 single circuit transmission lines is also underway and is expected to be completed this fiscal year.
