Mumbai's Chai Wala Speaks Out

Chhotu, also known as Mohammad Taufiq, a tea vendor from Mumbai, played a crucial role in saving lives during the 26/11 terrorist attacks. He has publicly demanded the execution of Tahawwur Rana, asserting that he should not receive any special treatment, such as gourmet meals in prison, akin to what Ajmal Kasab received. Taufiq emphasized that Rana deserves to be hanged without delay.

As Rana is being extradited from the United States to India, public sentiment is rising. Taufiq, a recognized hero from the tragic events of 2008, stated, 'There is no need for India to provide him with special jail privileges or meals like Kasab.' His remarks reflect the anger and frustration of many who suffered during the attacks.

Known as 'Chhotu,' Taufiq is celebrated for his bravery during the Mumbai attacks, where he risked his life to save others.

Call for Stricter Laws Against Terrorism Demand for Immediate Justice

Taufiq insists that Rana should not be afforded any special treatment in prison. He advocates for the establishment of distinct laws to handle terrorists, suggesting that Rana should face execution within a few months of his trial.

Rana is implicated in the 2008 Mumbai attacks, which resulted in the deaths of hundreds of innocent individuals. His trial in India is now imminent.

Legal Proceedings in the US Extradition Approved by US Supreme Court

On April 7, the Supreme Court of the United States dismissed Tahawwur Rana's request to halt his extradition to India. This decision followed an emergency application he filed on March 20, 2025, seeking to delay the process.

The court's ruling stated: 'The application for stay addressed to the Chief Justice and referred to the Court is dismissed.'

The 2008 Mumbai Terror Attacks Details of the Attack

The Mumbai Crime Branch has reported that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) registered a case against Rana following the horrific attacks on November 26, 2008, which claimed over 160 lives.
