Barcelona are reportedly out of the race for Bayer Leverkusen Jonathan Tah at this stage, handing a boost in the transfer market to Liverpool.

Barcelona have reportedly cooled their interest in Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan tah.

The 29-year-old is also said to be wanted by Liverpoolwho sorted out a significant piece of transfer business ahead of the summer trading point.

The Reds confirmed on Thursday morning that Mohamed is wrong has signed a new deal at Anfield, keeping him at the club past the conclusion of this term.

Breaking numerous records in the English top flight this term, the Egyptian king is now ready to continue his legacy as a great on Merseyside.

Salah will be expecting to add a second Premier League to his honours list, with Arne Slot‘s men sitting pretty at the summit of the league table.

Liverpool handed Barca boost in Tah race?

According to Spanish outlet SPORTLiverpool have been handed a significant boost in the race for the services of Bayer Leverkusen defender Tah.

The report claims that it is currently ‘impossible’ for the Catalan club to sign the German during the upcoming window due to financial constraints.

It is understood that Tah is very keen on a switch to Camp Nou, however Hansi Flick‘s men are not in a position to offer the player a contract at this stage.

It is believed that a host of Premier League outfits, including Liverpool, want to sign the centre-back, however talks with English clubs are supposedly on hold.

The 29-year-old wants to wait until it is clear whether Barca could offer him a contract before entertaining advances from across the English Channel.

Liverpool’s centre-back situation

Liverpool possess one of the meanest defences in the division, although there are concerns about the backline at Anfield as the new season approaches.

Unlike Salah, centre-back Virgil van Dijk is yet to put pen to paper on new terms at the club, with the Dutchman hurtling towards the conclusion of his deal.

Although Tah would be a great addition to Slot’s ranks, the German is not a like-for-like replacement for Van Dijk in terms of quality or experience.
