Ange Postecoglou has taken on the role of sleuth to uncover a mole within Tottenham, who he claims is leaking sensitive information that's harming the team.
Postecoglou, an admirer of the tough TV detective Reacher, has revealed that someone has been disclosing injury updates and tactical plans for months.
The Spurs manager, feeling the heat, is hot on the trail of the informant and has promised to deal with the perpetrator sternly.
"There's always a bit of detective work in football management. Who is my go-to detective? Reacher. Get out the big bat and pummel people!" he declared, during his pre-match press conference.
"It's a simple process. You just look where the information goes. It's pretty easy to figure out.
"It started last year. We thought we had nipped it in the bud but it's still consistently coming out at different times.
"You hope that people come to their senses after a while. But it just continues to happen. It's not agents. The stuff that is coming out is pretty specific.
"The language used is not used by agents, trust me. It's definitely not the players.
"The information that is getting out is... especially with medical information, I'm really careful.
"Sometimes players don't want that information disclosed, it's as simple as that. The fact that it is getting out is unacceptable."
The issue was brought to light following reports on Thursday that Wilson Odobert had sustained a hamstring injury.
Odobert remained on the bench during Tottenham's Europa League stalemate against Eintracht Frankfurt, but after a training session on Friday, he could be in line to face Wolves.
Postecoglou voiced his frustrations: "We'll deal with it but it's not helpful for us and half of it is mis-information.
"It's disappointing because you'd like to think everyone who is in our camp is working with us, not against us.
"There is no doubt we have got a leak inside the club. Somebody who continues to leak out information. They have all year. It just makes our job more difficult.
"We try hard to keep things in-house because we don't want, on game-day, the opposition being aware of any sort of team selection.
"But we've got somebody within our camp who continually gives out information.
"We've narrowed it down, we've been looking at it for quite a while and kind of have a fair idea of where it is coming from."
In other news, Spurs have confirmed the appointment of former Arsenal executive Vinai Venkatesham as their new CEO, joining the board to support the club's growth.
Executive Chairman Daniel Levy remarked: "I have known Vinai for many years, having worked together in the Premier League and the ECA.
"I am personally delighted that he has agreed to join our Board as we build for success."
Venkatesham shared his enthusiasm about his new role: "I'm excited to be joining Tottenham Hotspur this summer.
"After taking some time to recharge and evaluate my options, I believe this is an exceptional opportunity to work with Daniel, the Board and all of the staff, to take the Club forward."
