A man was detained in Agra for putting meat inside a mosque

According to a police officer, someone was taken into custody on Friday for reportedly putting a piece of animal meat at Agra’s Jama Masjid.

Nazruddin, a resident of the city’s Teela Nandram neighbourhood, has been identified as the accused. “Today on 11.04.25, on the incident of finding a piece of (animal) flesh in the mosque under the jurisdiction of Mantola Police Station, the police teams formed took prompt action with the help of CCTV etc., and the accused has been arrested,” the Agra Police Commissionerate wrote in a post on X in Hindi.

To ascertain the accused’s motivation for the deed, the police have interrogated him. Officials haven’t disclosed the specifics of the interview, however.

According to DCP (City) Sonam Kumar, who provided details of the arrest, they reviewed CCTV video after learning of the incident at approximately 7.30 am and discovered that someone had been inside the mosque late on Thursday night, holding a parcel containing the meat, before leaving.

The meat was then transported for laboratory testing after 100 police officers were ordered into action, Kumar told reporters. The DCP (City) said that they discovered throughout the inquiry that the parcel was delivered to the mosque using a scooty.

Police tracked down the scooty and arrived at the store where the meat was purchased, Kumar continued. Police located Nazruddin after questioning the store’s owner. According to authorities, the accused is now incarcerated after a complaint was filed against him.
