Spain is the UK's tourism hotspot when it comes to sunny holiday breaks - with the offering warm weather for much of the year. But just a little further afield is a destination that boasts over 300 sunny days a year...and much cheaper prices.

is a must-visit destination for beach lovers or anyone who seeks a warmer climate, especially during the summer months. This picturesque coastal region, located in southwestern Albania along the Ionian Sea, is known for its crystal-clear waters, immaculate beaches and breathtaking landscapes that stretch from the city of Vlorë to the town of Ksamil.

In Spain, the average cost of a four-star hotel is £185-£207 per night. Head east over to the Riviera, and you'll find the same room costing around £85 per night accroding to.

The Riviera is dotted with charming villages like Palasë, Kondraq, Dhërmi, Himara and Ksamil, among others.

The best time to visit the Albanian Riviera is in May, June or September. The weather is warm then, but the beaches aren't too busy. Just be sure to check for beach closures if travelling during May.

There's so much to do on your visit to this Idyllic region, with a wide range of beautiful beaches to visit:

Ksamil Beach: Famous for its crystal-clear waters and the nearby islands.

Filikuri Beach: Accessible by boat or trail, offering pristine sands and clear waters.

Jala Beach: A half-moon shaped beach with azure sea water.

Gjipe Beach: Known for its unique setting and stunning views.

Himara Beach: A pebbled bay in the fishing village of Himara.

Dhermi Beach: Features a stunning mountain backdrop.

These beaches offer a less commercialised experience than other Mediterranean hotspots, retaining an authentic and untouched charm.

Travel blogger, Emma Hurren, wrote of her time travelling the Riviera and left a list of her favourite places she recommends make an itinerary.

She wrote: "I have written them in order, as if you are driving from the north, down to the south. Hopefully, this will make it a little easier when you come to planning your trip."

She begins in Vlorë, the third most populous city in Albania and a popular spot for those set to road-trip the Riviera. You then head south to Llogara National Park, one of the main attractions of the Albanian mountains. There you'll find thick forests where deer, wild boar and wolves roam free, along with some hiking trails the park has to offer.

Then over to Dhermi, which Emma named "one of my favourite places along the Albanian Riviera!". The town's lively atmosphere and nightlife, pair beautifully with its stunning surrounding scenery, including mountains and olive groves.

The city of Sarandë offers a blend of history, beautiful beaches and vibrant culture, so it comes as no surprise that it made it to the list. Here you'll find easy access to the Greek Island of Corfu, allowing for day trips or longer excursions.

Saving best for last we have the 'Maldives of Albania' - Ksamil. If you're looking for somewhere you can sit by the beach all day then head to a local restaurant in the evening, this pretty village will be nothing short of a dream.
