Famous Indian actress and former Miss Universe, Sushmita Sen, has shown support for Pakistani actor Fawad Khan’s comeback in Bollywood. She said that art and sports should not have borders, and artists should be free to work together.
Fawad Khan is expected to return to Indian films after almost nine years. Sushmita said she wishes him all the best. She also said that if she gets a good offer, she would love to work in a Pakistani film too.
While some people in India don’t support Fawad’s return because of political reasons, many celebrities like Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel are happy about it. Fawad is likely to act in a new movie with actress Vaani Kapoor, directed by Aarti Bagdi.
Earlier, some major political parties were not happy. The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) and Shiv Sena have objected to his presence, saying that no Pakistani artist should be allowed to work in India while political tensions between the two countries continue.
These groups have announced plans to block the movie’s release in Maharashtra and have warned of protests. They believe that casting a Pakistani actor in a film about Indian freedom and unity is “disrespectful.”
The Indian Film and TV Directors’ Association has also raised concerns, saying the timing of the film and Fawad’s casting could upset people and lead to civil unrest.
Nevertheless, Sushmita’s words show that many artists believe creativity should not be stopped by politics or borders.
