Dr. Chandrakumari Raghuram Shetty is a medical professional and a woman behind NMC Health. It is a company that became the UAE’s first private healthcare provider. Along with her husband Dr. BR Shetty she was also involved in building the healthcare giant from the ground. Who is Dr. BR Shetty? Dr. BR Shetty was born on August 1 1942 in Udupi Karnataka in a middle-class family. In 1973 he had just $8 with it he moved to Dubai to find better opportunities. Initially he worked as a door-to-door salesman selling medicines but this was the time when Shetty built influential connections in medical professionals. Which later helped him when he founded NMC Health in 1975. However in 2019 his life changed dramatically. After US-based Muddy Waters Research accused NMC Health of hiding $1 billion in debt Shetty’s business fell down so much that he had to sell NMC Health for Rs 74. BR Shetty also owns private jets Rolls-Royce cars and multiple luxury properties. He also has two floors in the world’s tallest building Burj Khalifa.
