RCB defeated Rajasthan Royals by nine wickets with the help of half-centuries from Virat Kohli and Phil Salt. Batting first, Rajasthan scored 173 runs for four wickets in 20 overs. In reply, RCB won the match by scoring 175 runs for one wicket in 17.3 overs. For RCB, Salt scored 65 runs off 33 balls with the help of five fours and six sixes, while Kohli returned unbeaten after scoring 62 runs off 45 balls with the help of four fours and two sixes. Apart from these, Devdutt Padikkal, who came in as an impact player, scored an unbeaten 40 off 28 balls with the help of five fours and a six.
Chasing the target, Salt and Kohli gave RCB a quick start, due to which the team crossed the 60-run mark without any loss in the powerplay itself. Kohli and Salt were batting aggressively, taking RCB's score to 65 runs without loss in six overs. Kohli and Salt shared a 92-run partnership for the first wicket, which was broken by Kumar Karthikeya by dismissing Salt. After this, Kohli took the innings forward with Padikkal and did not let the run rate slow down.
Kohli completed his half-century during this period. He became the first Indian to score 100 fifties in T20. This is Kohli's third fifty of this IPL season. He shared an unbeaten partnership of 83 runs for the second wicket with Padikkal. Padikkal completed 1000 runs for RCB during this period. He is the second player to do so after Kohli. Karthikeya took the only wicket for Rajasthan, while the other bowlers remained empty-handed.
