In his latest role as Reza in Mohrey, Amitt K Singh departs from his previous portrayal of a courageous police officer in Bhaukaal. This new character presents a unique emotional depth and a fresh perspective on his acting skills.
As he prepares to return for Season 2, Amitt shares, “Reza embodies various facets. He’s impulsive and unpredictable, with a background that starkly contrasts with the rest of the cast. This made it both challenging and enjoyable to delve into his character.” His dedication to authenticity shines through, as he believes that genuine performances resonate with audiences. “I focus on being present in the moment rather than trying to make the character relatable,” he explains.
Amitt reflects on his journey, attributing his development to time and experience. “An actor evolves through time and experience,” he states. “Understanding the character, grasping the essence of the project, and aligning with the director’s vision are crucial for me, regardless of the medium.”
His shift from television to digital platforms has been seamless, as he views each project as a learning opportunity. Amitt has a unique perspective on television, admitting, “I’ve never participated in a TV show for more than three months. I feel I’m not suited for that format,” although he remains open to new experiences.
With a diverse portfolio that includes the sci-fi epic Mission Mangal and the intense crime drama Mohrey, Amitt is keen to avoid being pigeonholed into a single genre. He expresses a desire to explore romantic comedies, stating, “I’m eager to venture into a genre that contrasts with the intense roles I’ve played.”
Fans can anticipate more captivating performances soon. He mentions, “A feature film titled Wahham, based on a true story, will be released next year, where I portray a CBI officer alongside Vijay Raaz.” Additionally, he is part of an international project, Courage, where he plays a doctor in the US, which was officially selected for The Festival de Cine Global de Santo Domingo (FCGSD) this season.
Amitt is optimistic about the evolving landscape of the industry and the emergence of digital platforms. “OTT and contemporary cinema (beyond commercial films) have opened up more avenues for talented actors,” he notes, recognizing the growing opportunities for performers to explore diverse and unique roles. “The content being produced allows for greater performance possibilities,” he adds, expressing excitement for what lies ahead.
Outside of acting, Amitt enjoys various activities. “I love traveling, reading, and watching quality films,” he shares. These interests keep him grounded and inspire his creativity, enabling him to refine his craft during breaks. “I also participate in workshops when I’m not filming,” he emphasizes his commitment to continuous learning.
For Amitt, the journey is centered around authenticity rather than striving for perfection. Reflecting on his past performances, he states, “I’m a confident actor. Revisiting or altering my approach won’t yield better results. What I delivered was the best I could achieve at that moment.” This philosophy guides his work, helping him remain true to the essence of each character he embodies.
