Today 14 April is a very special day in the country because today is the 135th birth anniversary of Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar. Let us inform you that Baba Saheb was born on 14 April 1891. Baba Saheb was born in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh. Ambedkar was one of the most educated persons of that time. Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar's real surname was not Ambedkar, his real surname was Ambavadekar, his father got his name registered in school, then one of his teachers gave him his surname Ambedkar.

Baba Saheb loved his dog very much, it is said in many books that he loved his dog very much. He was also fond of gardening.

Baba Saheb was fond of reading books, he had a huge library of books, a writer John Gunther wrote in his book Inside Asia that in 1938 Baba Saheb had 8000 books, which had become 35000 at the time of his death.

Baba Saheb's family belonged to Mahar caste (Dalit), which was considered untouchable, his ancestors worked in the army of the British East India Company for a long time. His father was also a Subedar in the Mhow Cantonment of the British Army.

Baba Saheb was the 14th and last child of his parents. He was married at the age of just 15, when his wife Ramabai was 9 years old. Also, he was the only one among 14 siblings who got the opportunity to study.

Ambedkar passed the matriculation examination in 1907 and then he got admission in Elphinstone College. He was the first Dalit student to get admission in this college. After this, in 1912, he got a degree in Economics and Political Science from Bombay University.

Baba Saheb was the first and only Satyagrahi in the world who agitated for drinking water.

Baba Saheb was the first Indian who did PhD in Economics from abroad. Apart from this, Baba Saheb was the first lawyer from the backward class.

Baba Saheb was so capable that when the country was about to get independence and there was talk of making the constitution, seeing his ability, he was made the chairman of the constitution drafting committee.

Bhimrao Ambedkar was made the first law minister after the independence of the country. Baba Saheb contested the first general election of the country from Bombay North seat in 1952 which he lost. But he was a Rajya Sabha MP twice.
