For the next women’s tri-series, which will take place in Sri Lanka from April 27 to May 11, Karabo Meso, Seshnie Naidu, and Miane Smit have been called up to the South African ODI squad for the first time.

The R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo will host the tri-series. South Africa will compete in round-robin matches against India and Sri Lanka, the hosts.

Karabo and Seshnie have already joined the senior T20I women’s squad and participated in this year’s ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup. In contrast, Miane was a traveling reserve during the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, when South Africa placed second, last year.

“We’ve chosen this ODI team with a methodical and strategic approach, taking into account the opposition’s characteristics as well as the playing circumstances. Our evaluation of the surfaces, where we think a well-rounded assault will be essential to success, is reflected in the choice to use four seamers and five to six spin possibilities.

“A vital component of our preparation for the World Cup is this ODI series. Convenor of selectors Clinton du Preez said, “It’s about creating depth, improving role clarity, and making sure that every player is clear on their contribution towards our collective goals.”

Additionally, Nondumiso Shangase returns to the ODI team for the first time since the India trip last year. The opening batsman Lara Goodall, wicketkeeper Mieke de Ridder, and seamer Ayanda Hlubi have been dropped from the ODI team in favor of the foursome.

Experienced all-rounder Marizanne Kapp will not play in the tri-series as she continues her conditioning block in order to be ready for the next trips and the ODI World Cup in India, as previously announced by Cricket South Africa (CSA).

It’s an excellent team. The combination of expertise and young is beneficial. It’s a chance for these females to demonstrate their abilities. Hopefully, when we hit the field in Sri Lanka, everything we’ve learned in camp will be applicable. In my opinion, Karabo, Miané, and Seshnie no longer have an opportunity.

We have the chance to provide them with this degree of exposure. We need to expose them to international cricket as much as possible for the future and the wider picture. This trip gives us a chance to see how the team is doing.

It is still an ongoing project. Our goal is to reach a stage where, as a team, we are ready to go to India in September. However, there is still some work to be done in terms of skills, and that is what we are focusing on right now,” head coach Mandla Mashimbyi said.

Anneke Bosch, Tazmin Brits, Nadine de Klerk, Annerie Dercksen, Sinalo Jafta, Ayabonga Khaka, Masabata Klaas, Suné Luus, Karabo Meso, Nonkululeko Mlaba, Seshnie Naidu, Nondumiso Shangase, Miané Smit, Chloé Tryon, and Laura Wolvaardt (captain) comprise the South African team for the tri-series.
