Celebrated Pakistani actress Sonya Hussyn recently spoke about her thoughts on marriage in an open interview on a podcast conducted by a private magazine.
While being interviewed, the host inquired if there was anything in her life regarding which she had developed different opinions with time. To this, Sonya pondered over the rate at which her personal and professional life progressed.
“By the blessings of Allah, everything in my life occurred suddenly—finishing my studies, beginning my profession, purchasing a house and car—it all happened early,” she explained.
She continued to add that when life goes so quickly, marriage follows as the next natural step, and families start proposing matches. “Over time, my opinions regarding marriage have changed tremendously,” Sonya revealed.
She now assumes that if you feel happy and at peace without being married, there’s nothing to hurry marriage. “InshaAllah, I mean to marry,” she said, “but just when I have found the one—because the wrong decision will affect not only your life but also your kids’ lives in the future.”
Remembering tough experiences during her youth, Sonya underscored the way unresolved conflict between parents affects children. “That cycle needs to break,” she added. “Only then will I be prepared to start a family.”
The host asked Sonya if she intended to have children, and she laughed and shook her head, saying, “InshaAllah, I want five children—but I’m not willing to risk ruining five children’s lives.
It is notable that Sonya Hussyn was earlier married to fitness instructor and model Wasif Muhammad in 2014. The marriage turned sour, and the reasons for their separation have not been publicly announced by either party.
