In honour of the late Ayrton Senna, one of the greatest sporting giants in history, Portuguese team Estoril Praia will don a new fourth uniform when they play SC Braga on April 19 at Antonio Coimbra da Mota Stadium.

Estoril Praia is honouring the man and athlete who defined a generation with 41 grand prix victories and three World Championships for McLaren forty years after the Brazilian driver’s first Formula 1 victory on April 21, 1985, at the storied Estoril Circuit, where he earned the nickname “Master of Rain” after dominating the race from start to finish under a torrential downpour.

Senna’s winning first single-seater, the Lotus 97T, inspired the design and colours of the club’s fourth kit, which will not be utilised for commercial sales.

Vinicius Zanocelo, the only Brazilian in the Estoril Praia primary team, emphasised the significance of the racing driver for the Canary Islanders by saying, “Ayrton is an idol for Brazil,” in order to commemorate the racing driver’s history and the introduction of this fourth uniform. To commemorate him in this manner is a wonderful honour. Being able to honour someone who is so significant to me and my nation made me extremely pleased.

Because he offered so much joy to a people that sometimes faced such adversity, Senna is regarded as a hero. The kit is very lovely.

With gold accents on the collar and sleeves and the Estoril Praia emblem and sponsorships imprinted in the same tone, black is the predominant colour. The date and the Estoril circuit’s silhouette are embroidered in gold in the bottom right corner, while the numbered edition’s indication is represented on the left by the driver’s motion upon seeing the chequered flag at the finish line.

The green, yellow, and navy blue stripes on the front of the jersey, which are a reflection of the three-time world champion’s iconic helmet and a testament to Senna’s history, are what most catch the eye.

“The goal of launching this fourth piece of equipment is, on the one hand, to celebrate what was one of the most beautiful legacies that the Cascais region has left us,” Antonio Nobre, marketing director at Estoril Praia, stated the rationale behind this homage. According to an emotional perspective, this tale has influenced several generations and is still warmly recalled today.

This is an homage to Ayrton Senna for Estoril Praia. However, it serves as a reminder of a legacy that was established here by the first-ever Formula 1 triumph of the greatest motor racing figure, who also opted to live a significant portion of his life in Portugal and the municipality of Cascais.
