Navi Mumbai: Parents of students at a Marathi medium School in Sector 16, Airoli, have raised an urgent appeal to save the institution from an imminent shutdown. The Marathi-medium school is reportedly under threat to close its operation due to internal administrative and political issues.

The school which has an enrollment of 431 students.is alleged by the parents that the school management has stopped appointing new teachers and is refusing to accommodate teachers assigned by the Zilla Parishad.

"As a result, only one teacher — who is also the acting principal — is available to teach both 9th and 10th-grade students. This has led to a serious disruption in the students’ academic routine, particularly at a critical stage in their schooling," related a parent to the MNS party seeking their intervention.

Despite repeated visits and pleas to the school authorities and the Zilla Parishad in Thane, parents say they have not received a satisfactory response or resolution. There are growing fears that the school is being deliberately neglected in order to boost private English-medium institutions, potentially forcing the closure of this Marathi school.

“This is not just about one school,” said one of the parents. “This is about preserving the Marathi language and ensuring that poor and marginalized children are not deprived of their right to education.”

The parents have reached out to political leaders, including those from the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, urging them to intervene. They argue that saving the school is both a social and linguistic responsibility and that immediate steps must be taken to prevent its closure.

MNS party on Wednesday had a meeting with the officials seeking for clarification in the matter.
