A New Venture into Astrology

Renowned for bringing the sci-fi genre to Pollywood, filmmaker Nav Bajwa is embarking on a fresh project that delves into astrology. His latest web series, titled 'Takdeer', aims to explore the often-misunderstood subject of astrology, which is frequently associated with superstition.

On Wednesday, Nav, alongside a talented cast including BN Sharma, Deepak Niaz, Ashita Sharma, and young actor Saarthak, unveiled the first two episodes of the series—'Deport' and 'Aulaad'. The event featured the astrologer Satvinder Singh, who engaged with the audience as the unique theme of the series was introduced. Nav, who has a personal interest in astrology, candidly shared that he once confused astrology with astronomy during his childhood aspirations of becoming an astronaut.

Transitioning from a pilot to a multifaceted role in the entertainment industry, Nav expressed his ability to interpret birth charts, although he admits he hasn't closely followed astrology beyond the series' release date.

The narratives of pursuing dreams abroad and the father-son relationship inspired him to create this series. He emphasized that while astrology is often dismissed as mere superstition, his goal is to highlight its scientific aspects. When asked about his belief in astrology, Nav remarked, 'I believe in divine will.'

Astrologer Satvinder Singh noted that astrology is prevalent across various cultures, asserting that their jyotish vidya is particularly precise. While he doesn't claim to guarantee a film's success, he can suggest optimal dates for project launches.

BN Sharma added that understanding one's future can aid in navigating life's challenges, as many seek astrological insights for guidance. New episodes of the series will be released monthly, with 'Deport' and 'Aulaad' soon available on Satvinder Singh's YouTube channel.

Ambitions for Punjabi Cinema

Nav is brimming with innovative ideas for the Punjabi film industry. Many have remarked on his Bollywood-like appearance and fluency in Hindi, prompting questions about his interest in branching out to other languages. However, Nav is committed to elevating Punjabi cinema, inspired by the success of South Indian films.

His upcoming film 'Madhaniyan', set for a September release, features Dev Kharoud and Neeru Bajwa alongside Nav in leading roles. He is also keen on showcasing Punjabi cinema at international film festivals, including Cannes, and is working on a project tentatively titled 'Iqbal Singh', based on a true story. Additionally, he has plans for several short films aimed at the global market, with the vision of placing Punjabi cinema on an international pedestal.

The current landscape of Punjabi cinema is thriving. Nav mentioned collaborations with notable figures like Karan Johar and Boney Kapoor, emphasizing his dedication to producing films in Punjabi despite the potential for Hindi adaptations due to budget and scale.

Having started his career in music, Nav has found success as a filmmaker, but he holds a special fondness for writing. He believes that every cinematic journey begins with a compelling idea, which brings him immense joy. Although acting was his initial dream, he honored his father's wishes to pursue aviation, eventually gaining his father's support to follow his passion for filmmaking.
