Fake paneer is a major scam currently happening in India. Many markets are selling adulterated paneer made from starch synthetic milk and harmful chemicals. People who have consumed it have experienced food poisoning and digestive issues.
Ever since the news about fake paneer came to light content creators have been trying to expose restaurants and cafes including well-known brands by conducting a simple iodine test. A home iodine test has further confirmed the presence of starch. After YouTuber Mohak Mangal exposed McDonalds and Burger King for allegedly selling fake paneer another YouTuber stepped forward to check fine-dining restaurants in Mumbai owned by celebrities.
Sarthak Sachdeva visited multiple celebrity-owned restaurants to check whether they were selling fake paneer. First he visited Virat Kohlis One8 Commune then Shilpa Shettys Bastian and Bobby Deols Someplace Else carrying a vial of iodine tincture. In all the above-mentioned restaurants none of the paneer pieces turned black which indicated they were serving pure paneer.
However when Sarthak visited Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khans restaurant Torii in Khar West he ordered a Chinese paneer dish. He removed the fried layer from the paneer washed it in a bowl of water and then added iodine drops. To everyone’s surprise the paneer turned dark. In the video the content creator said Shah Rukh Khan ke restaurant mein paneer nakli tha. Ye dekh ke mere toh hosh udd gaye the.

Netizens were shocked to see the viral video and questioned how one can be sure of what they’re eating at fancy eateries.
In no time the restaurant Torii responded to the viral reel and provided a clarification about the paneer turning black. The iodine test reflects the presence of starch not the authenticity of the paneer. As the dish contains soy-based ingredients this reaction is expected. We stand by the purity of our paneer and the integrity of our ingredients at Torii they wrote.
