Mumbai: In view of the rising number of cybercrimes, Mumbai Police has launched a new helpline service called 'Digital Rakshak' to help citizens tackle and prevent such offences. The police have introduced two dedicated mobile numbers – 7715004444 and 7400086666 – which will remain operational 24/7. Citizens can reach out through calls or WhatsApp for assistance.

Through this service, residents can report suspicious calls, messages, or links, and verify the authenticity of government documents before falling prey to fraud. The helpline aims to provide quick and effective responses, sending out cyber police or local police station teams if necessary. Victims will also be offered counselling and guidance, especially in cases of digital financial fraud.

Officials stated that the initiative is designed to reduce panic among victims, ensure prompt intervention, and educate the public on how to stay safe online. Mumbai Police has appealed to citizens to make full use of the 'Digital Rakshak' helpline and help build a cyber-safe city.
