An 11-year-old deaf and mute Dalit girl from Rampur in Uttar Pradesh, who was raped by unidentified accused, has been found with multiple injuries on her body. Dubbing the incident as “one of the most horrific sexual crimes" in recent times, the doctor who conducted the girl’s medical examination stated that cigarette burn marks were found on her private parts along with bite marks.
Police arrested a suspect on Wednesday, allegedly from the same village, and initiated interrogation procedures against him.
Dr Anju Singh, who conducted 11-year-old’s medical examination, was quoted by The Times of India: “This is a clear case of rape by one or more persons as there were multiple injuries on her private parts. Her face had been struck with a blunt object, leaving it swollen."
“The girl’s clothes were stained with blood. We completed the medico-legal examination and referred her to a higher centre. She was terrified and unable to explain anything. It is one of the most horrific sexual crimes I have seen," Singh further said.
The report quoted the girl’s mother as saying that the 11-year-old has been “getting fits after the incident". “My daughter is extremely terrified," the mother added.
According to TOI, the girl, whose father is a marginal farmer from a village in Rampur district, went missing on Tuesday evening after going to relieve herself in a field.
The next day, which was Wednesday, a man from the village found her lying unconscious in a field around 500m from her home. The report stated that the girl was found half-naked, with her face swollen, following which the man promptly informed her family.
Police said that an FIR was registered based on the girl’s father’s complaint, and three teams have been deployed to apprehend the accused.
“We immediately sent the survivor to the hospital for treatment after learning about the incident. We are using CCTV footage and mobile surveillance data to track down the culprit," additional SP Atul Kumar Srivastava was quoted.
