For the growth of tourism in Agra and Varanasi, the Uttar Pradesh government has set aside Rs 192 crore. Thirteen projects totalling Rs 118 crore will be undertaken in Agra, including the beautification of several temples and the building of a monument for former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. For 14 projects, Varanasi would get Rs 74.31 crore.
The money will be used to develop tourism at the following locations in Agra: the Hanuman Temple at the Collectorate (Rs 8.46 lakh), the Shiva temple in Fatehabad (Rs 88 lakh), the ancient Shiva temple in Bah (Rs 72.6 lakh), the Dashrath Kunj Temple (Rs 95.11 lakh), the Balkeshwar Temple (Rs 1.47 lakh), the Kailash Temple (Rs 15.26 crore), and the Dariyanath Temple (Rs 1.06 crore). A fund of Rs 2.05 crore would be used to erect signage at important tourist destinations. With Rs 22.76 crore, a monument for Atal Bihari Vajpayee will be constructed at Bateshwar. An extra Rs 7.15 crore would be used for the area’s integrated tourist development.
Assi Ghat and Ravidas Ghat (Rs 8.24 crore), Assi Ghat and Dashashwamedh Ghat (Rs 6.14 crore), Golaghat and Namo Ghat (Rs 6.17 crore), and Dashashwamedh Ghat and Kashi Vishwanath Temple Ghat (Rs 6.16 crore) are among the ghats in Varanasi that will undergo renovations and beautification. It would cost Rs 8.27 crore to rehabilitate Dashashwamedh Ghat and Rs 6.2 crore to renovate Assi Ghat.
A memorial in Pindara (Rs 18.25 crore), Durga Temple in Mustafabad (Rs 72.06 lakh), Gurudham Temple (Rs 95.66 lakh), Kardameshwar Mahadev Temple (Rs 4.86 crore), Thaiwat Temple’s lighting (Rs 1.28 crore), and Shulaka Keshwar Mahadev Temple (Rs 95.9 lakh) are among the other projects. A total of Rs 50 lakh would be used to improve the tourist amenities at several ghats.
