Soon, the Uttar Pradesh government will build eight 500-bed dormitories in Lucknow, Gautam Buddha Nagar, and Ghaziabad exclusively for working women. The national government has already released the first payment of Rs 251.82 crore of the Rs 381 crore that would be spent in these projects. Construction on the Women Welfare Department is expected to start soon.
This initiative’s main objective is to provide working women secure, convenient, and accessible housing with fully furnished living areas. The initiative is a component of the continuous endeavours to advance the empowerment of women.
The federal government has provided funding for these eight hostels via the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) program. Construction is anticipated to start shortly, and implementing agencies have been chosen.
Working women would benefit greatly from this effort, which will remove the need for temporary housing or girls’ hostels while working away from home. Security and other necessary facilities for the dormitories are being given top priority by the government.
