Former England cricketer believes that Indian batting legends Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have what it takes to make a strong impact in the upcoming Test series in England this June.

The former fast bowler acknowledged the duo’s ability to handle the pressures of international cricket and suggested that the series could provide them with an opportunity to deliver significant performances. The right-arm pacer also remarked that players of their calibre often find their way back to form and hinted that this might not be the final time the two stalwarts feature in a series on English soil.

"I mean, as a player and a fan, I’ve always admired people like Rohit and Kohli. How they sort of deal with the pressure day-to-day and what they’ve done throughout their careers. Yes, they’ve had some sort of more negative times in Test cricket of late. But overall, I just see them as great players/," Tremlett told RevSportz.

“Those sorts of players, their form comes in and out. It wouldn’t surprise me if those two guys go and average 50-60 in that series. Who knows, it might not be their last series in England. Australia was always a very hard place to go and play cricket,” he added.

The 43-year-old emphasised that the two Indian cricketers appeared to regain some rhythm during the ICC Champions Trophy, and winning the title likely boosted their confidence. He also admitted that their experience should help them adapt across formats.

"They’re probably facing the best attack in the world in their own conditions. But the bits I watched of the ICC Champions Trophy, it looked like Rohit and found some form. They would have obviously gained a lot of confidence by winning that trophy. I know it’s a different form of cricket. But that’s not going to bother them too much,” said the former cricketer.

The Southampton-born cricketer acknowledged that the Indian batters are expected to arrive in the UK with intent. He also opened up that with strong crowd support and proven resilience, they are the players who never to be counted out from the game.

“They’re going to come to the UK. They’re going to try and be ultra-aggressive and play their best game against a fairly inexperienced England bowling attack. They’re going to try and take it to them. And they’re going to have the Indian crowd also behind them. So it’s going to be great to watch. But, you know, the great players like that, you know, you never really doubt them because you never know what they can go on and achieve, even after sort of low periods,” he added.
